ILLUMINATIONS presents Cindy Lail's thoughts on select passages of the Bible that address one or more of the themes considered in her earlier books. These featured passages are not discussed in her earlier books, but they are key passages that help us more fully understand and embrace the truths presented in those books.
This first edition of ILLUMINATIONS focuses on the New Testament passages of John 1:1-2 and Philippians 2:5-11. Cindy shows that these passages are consistent with the description of Jesus Christ presented in her book MY FATHER: THOUGHTS ON TRANSFORMING AND ASCENDING AS CHILDREN OF GOD and with the description of the meaning of salvation presented in THE COVENANTS: THE DUAL DYNAMIC IN THE BLESSING OF SALVATION.
There is an eternal, unchangeable law governing the universe. This is a moral law, and it's called Holiness. This law is also called God's Word. God is one with this Word, meaning He is one with this governing law. God IS this law, and this law IS God.
When Jesus lives on earth, He obeys this law, and He obeys it perfectly. He lives in such a way that He embodies this law. The people around Him can see what the law looks like in human context. And for His obedience, Jesus receives an honor, an accolade. Several times in the Bible, He is called "the Word."
We need to be careful to distinguish between the Bible's references to this eternal law of Holiness and references to Jesus Who lives out and embodies this law of Holiness. For example, John 1:1-2 is a passage that points to this eternal, governing law and states that God is one with this law. This law is God.
